My name is Stephen Felgate, I am a community governor for Village School Primary.
Both of my “children” (now nineteen and fifteen) attended Village Primary School and during that time I became a parent governor (in 2013).
I have really enjoyed my time at Village, and within that time, I have seen the school steadily progress and achieve both high standards and expectations which have been maintained, improved and strengthened in recent times. This was evidenced within successive OFSTED reports and visits.
The school has a very special, friendly atmosphere, and a staff team (both recent and long term) that, in my experience, puts the children’s welfare, safety and development right at the top of their priorities, along with fun, adventure, stimulation and exploration; guiding and nurturing them throughout their early school years with genuine care and professionalism. It’s always a pleasure to visit as I always get a warm welcome from both children and staff.
I work for Stockton Borough Council as a Support Worker; working for Day Options at “The Youthy” based at Thornaby Road, coordinating and supporting activities with people of all ages who have diagnosed disabilities.
During my spare time I attend local community forums (set up by Stockton Borough Council) to put forward my opinions and ideas into helping local people (such as loneliness or obesity) within our community and supporting the local volunteers, support and action groups and the people who carry out local activities, provisions and services.
I am a season ticket holder at Middlesbrough FC and love going to home and away games. (when we win!) I am also a keen jogger and walker and I am really lucky that I live near the riverside, where there are great views and surroundings, which help me unwind, relax and think.
